From the Desk of Representative Michael Paymar

February 22, 2001

Please join me and other DFL elected officials, party leaders and friends to help elect Bob Long the next Mayor of St Paul. This is the year to put a leader in the mayor's office who represents our progressive values and who will work for our neighborhoods as well as downtown interests.

Bob is an experienced leader who listens, an accomplished attorney with expertise in housing and economic development issues, and a successful small businessperson with an entrepreneurial spirit. Bob is someone who values innovation and "gets things done for St. Paul." Those of you who know Bob can see that he's ready to become our Mayor. He brings boundless energy and a long list of accomplishments to the table. For those of you who don't know Bob, I'm sure you will like what you see in his biography and record.

üBob has a proven track record of being a leader on progressive issues. Bob's commitment to valuing our city's rich diversity is evident from the fact that he has built the most geographically and racially diverse campaign of any of the candidates. He enjoys broad-based support from the many different communities that make up St. Paul.

üBob is fiscally moderate and will ensure our excellent quality of life. Bob has always been a wise steward of the city budget and of taxpayer's dollars. I also know that he will invest in our infrastructure and provide efficient services to keep St. Paul moving forward.

üBob has the most experience of any candidate in city issues. Bob has over 14 years of experience on city issues, including a year with former Mayor George Latimer and 6 productive years on the City Council from Ward 3. He also has over 7 years experience as a lawyer representing municipalities in housing, economic development and other city issues.

Not only is Bob knowledgeable about city issues, he has the character and vision to keep St. Paul a great city of families and neighborhoods. Bob's ability to connect with people and build consensus is unsurpassed by the other candidates. These strengths and our hard work will ensure Bob's victory at the DFL convention, in the September Primary and on through the November election.

Together with Bob we can advance an agenda that includes healthy families, safe and livable neighborhoods, new jobs and business growth, affordable homes, respect and appreciation for our City's diversity and a fiscally responsible city government.

Sincerely,

Michael Paymar
