Chief author of Saint Paul's one-half cent sales tax that financed the new River Centre and the city's portion of the new Xcel Energy Center.
Worked with the St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce in leading the effort to bring the Minnesota Children's Museum downtown.
Worked with the Saint Paul PED, Ramsey County HRA, and the St. Paul Port Authority to bring Homestyles.com and its more than 80 jobs from Minneapolis to St. Paul to be part of the growing "cyber village" in Lowertown.
As chair of the St. Paul Port Authority Finance Committee, led efforts to begin brownfields clean-up in Saint Paul and to site 5 new industrial parks - 4 of which have been completed.
Chief author of legislation that established the District Cooling System, which allows many older buildings in downtown to remain economically viable.
Initiated the Port Authority's business development loan program.

Bob and his wife, Karen, live in Saint Paul's Highland Park neighborhood with their children, Nick and Kate.
Eight years as coach of youth hockey and soccer through neighborhood athletic associations and recreation centers including the Highland Hockey Association, Blackhawks Soccer Club and the Highland-Groveland Recreation Association.
Served as a board member for numerous community organizations, including the District 14 Community Council and the Energy and Environment Resource Center.
