March 22, 2001

SAINT PAUL, MN - State Representative Alice Hausman (66B) today ended speculation that she would enter the St Paul mayoral race by announcing her endorsement of former city council member Bob Long.

“I have chosen to remain in the state legislature to continue my efforts on transportation and environmental issues.” said Hausman. “Bob Long shares my vision and passion for the city of St. Paul and its future. He is an energetic, intelligent and articulate candidate who will be an excellent mayor and will extend the vitality we have experienced in downtown St. Paul to our neighborhoods and our families.”

“I will continue to work on important St. Paul issues such as improving our transportation services and contributing to clean, livable neighborhoods,” Hausman added, “Both Bob and I believe our top priority is to enhance the quality of life in our city through new job creation, economic growth, housing developments, and improved transit services.” She concluded her remarks with a request for people to attend their DFL precinct caucuses and ward conventions in April.
