Rev.
Devin Miller Endorses Bob Long
After announcing that he would not be running himself,
Rev. Miller joins Neighbors for Long as a community advisor.
ST
PAUL, MN
March 28, 2001
The
Reverend Devin Miller announced today that he decided not
to run in order to continue his work as a minister and in
building his community from both a cultural and educational
background. "I have a vision for this city that will ensure
that the lonely and the left out will not be left behind,"
said Miller.
Miller
also announced that he will take on a major role in the
Long mayoral campaign, serving as a community advisor. "Bob
Long shares my vision for St. Paul, including bringing the
prosperity we have seen downtown out to the neighborhoods
and investing in affordable housing, transportation and
good jobs", said Miller. "We need to be partners with the
public schools and social service agencies and I see that
Bob has the ability to develop these coalitions," added
Miller.
"Bob
has a plan that is committed to diversity as represented
by his co-chairs, school board members Gilbert de la O and
Neal Thao, and community leaders such as Fred Perez and
Ora Lee Patterson", said Miller. "I want to help Bob develop
his community priorities to ensure that we are including
all of our residents and making St. Paul a great city for
all of us," added Miller.
"I am
very honored to have Rev. Miller serve as a community advisor
to my campaign. One of our first projects will be to develop
a partnership between the city, the school district, and
our community organizations to keep our school and neighborhood
recreation centers open after school so our children have
access to tutors, computer labs, and other positive educational
opportunities”, added Long.
